The Dust
As a mechanical engineer, most people in my field believe that the road to creativity is narrow and offers no turns. However, the greatest of inventions had admirable creativity and an eye for the impossible at heart.
Having started digital painting only in 2015, I was often told to quit on the grounds of having started too late although I was only 17 years old. The primary reason behind this, however, was the belief that a skill in the fine arts will not prove to be very useful in engineering, a field which I had set my eyes on by then. During my university years, I spent a lot of time nurturing my creative side, from developing creative designs to painting. I improved a lot in fine arts and graphics design, even understanding the sector better. Eventually, I started my own business dealing with art freelancing while I was still in university. Although successful, it had to come to an end when significant changes occurred in my life.
There is no doubt, however, that these skills will one day be better employed by me.
The Journey
In the year 2017, I started my venture into a very digital aspect of art when I was recruited by my university’s graphics design team. Although, I was a novice in the beginning, I spent a lot of time learning the skill over a few months and eventually became good enough for people outside the university to hire me for a decent fee. I applied to become the head of the team that year and although I was rejected, it was brought up to a startup founded by a student on campus. I was invited to head the entire Design & Branding sector of the startup. Being part of the core team, I learnt a lot of valuable things on entrepreneurship as well. I was recruited by another startup to make artworks for their application and to head the UI/UX team in 2018. After a few weeks of work, however, I decided to work on my own startup and began assembling a team. Later that year, I had raised huge investments.
Following that, in 2019, my creative skills eventually were brought to the light of some professors and the projects I did with them attracted the attention of the national organization for space science. However, after a year, I realized that I was not as interested in it as I thought I was. I quit my job at the space organization after a year.
I did my MS in Mechanical Engineering at University of Pennsylvania, specializing in robotics. I became very interested in the field of Brain Computer Interfaces. Currently, I’m looking for a job in medtech, BCIs or robotics.
